A Much Needed Spa Break

A couple of weekends back Josh and I headed to Reading for a little couples Spa break that he had booked for me for Mothers day this year. I’d been looking forward to it for months but it couldn’t have come at a better time as the week leading up to it was probably one of the worst weeks of my life so far and I spent the majority of it sobbing into a bar of chocolate of some sort. I’m sure I’ll share more on what’s been going on lately but I just can’t seem to find the words yet. But a big thank you to everyone that took the time to message me or comment on my Instagram post to check I was okay, it was very much appreciated and I felt very loved.

The only thing that got me through that awful week was knowing that come the Saturday, I’d be able to switch off for a little while. It was SO needed. I enjoyed the most amazing hot stone massage followed by a facial while Josh had an anti stress back massage. We then spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing in the sauna and by the pool which was just blissful.

Of course I love my daughter dearly, that goes without saying and being a Mama is the best thing ever… but sometimes it’s just so nice to have some time to yourself. To be able to pee in peace. And to not have to be Mama. To just be a couple again for a little while. All whilst knowing that your little is more than happy with her grandparents. It’s good for the soul every now and then. For once, I didn’t actually feel guilty either! Hurrah.

We spent the Saturday evening eating beautiful food and putting the world to rights over some amazing cocktails. We planned for the future (as always), we laughed a lot, but most importantly we just enjoyed each others company and it felt so.good. I absolutely adore my husband but I don’t get to spend quality time with him anywhere near as much as I would like which makes the occasional little break together even more special. I feel so very lucky to have him.

After a wonderful nights sleep in probably the biggest bed I have ever slept in, we headed down to breakfast which was also pretty delicious before heading to Intu Lakeside on the way home for a spot of retail therapy. Shopping child free is such a treat and something I definitely took for granted pre children. I’m pretty sure I spent a good two hours or so browsing Primark much to my husbands annoyance 😉 But I really did enjoy every single second.

I got home feeling very refreshed and with a much clearer head. Taking some time out was the best possible thing for me to do and I felt so much better for it. Also the cuddles we both got when we picked Bella up were pretty special too! <3

That looks like a perfect little getaway. I definitely understand the need for some child free time now & then. Hope you’re ok.
