    Summer Bedroom Refresh

Since¬†completing our spare bedroom makeover which you can see here, I have been fighting the urge to redo every single room in the house! Much to my poor husbands annoyance! Although it has come to my attention that our master bedroom really could do with a little refresh. Nothing too serious as all of our furniture is in still in perfect condition and we only recently bought a new bed which we both love so I wouldn’t want to change any of that. The room is currently painted cream which I would definitely prefer to be white but I’m not sure I can be bothered to change it just yet as it’s totally liveable as it is, I’m just being fussy ūüėČ

I think just by switching the bedding and curtains for some fresh ones and by adding some new accessories in it would change the whole feel of the room and give it a much needed refresh! The advantage with keeping the walls neutral is that you can easily chop and change the accessories to match the different seasons. I love doing this as I tend to get bored quite easily with home decor, so I like to have the freedom to be able to switch things up when I like!

I’ve been a huge lover of all things floral for years now and even though my obsession is much more subtle than it once was, I still can’t help but swoon over all the gorgeous summery floral bed sets in the shops at the moment! These are my current top bedding picks, I especially love how bright and fun number two is which is from Joules, it would be perfect for the summer months teamed with some co coordinating¬†bright curtains, maybe something like these ready made lined ones from The Yorkshire Linen Co.

Hopefully we’ll get round to giving our bedroom a little refresh before Summer is over and I’m sure I will then share what we come up with on the blog too!

    Spare Bedroom Inspiration

We moved into our house almost 18 months ago and I’ve very ashamed to admit that our third bedroom, which is in fact the biggest, has never been properly used! It’s full of various pieces of furniture, some of which needs up cycling, other bits need to go to the tip, all our paperwork is organised into a set of drawers and then of course there is plenty of general junk that we just keep putting off dealing with! Well I have finally decided that enough is enough and I am desperate to get started on sorting it out so that we can decorate and turn it from dumping ground into a lovely tranquil spare bedroom / office space.

Josh often works into the early hours on his laptop at home, normally on the sofa which really isn’t ideal so we’re planning on having a proper desk set up as well as a double bed so that he can work more efficiently. It will also be handy for me to be able to use this work space for Blogging too.

I have changed my mind countless times about the colour scheme and lay out of this room and I’m sure once we get started I’ll no doubt¬†change my mind again but I thought I would share our plans and a few of the things I’m lusting over at the moment for this new space.

The plan (at the moment) is to paint the whole room white so that it looks nice and bright and then to use touches of grey and yellow as accent colours. I absolute adore mustard yellow and we actually painted a feature wall in our downstairs hallway mustard last year but sadly the very overpriced paint was rubbish and even after countless coats it just didn’t cover properly which was a shame so we have since wallpapered over it.

I’m a massive fan of the Old English print company and we already have a couple of their prints around the house so I’ll definitely be adding at least one to the spare room although there is so many lovely ones I may have to order a couple ūüėČ ¬†I’m also in love with that yellow bedding! It’s so bright and fun, I think it will be perfect for the warmer months and then I would probably switch to a grey bed set for the cooler months.

Furniture wise there will be a double sliding mirror door wardrobe which we keep over flow clothes in, our old white metal bedstead, a desk with drawers for our files which we will be up cycling by painting it with either white or grey chalk paint and changing the drawer knobs and lastly a desk chair. I want to keep the room quite simple and understated, less is more as they say!

I would also love to get a decent blind for this room as all the windows in our house are very large and as this window is at the front of the house it can feel like you are being overlooked sometimes by the neighbours opposite. I really love the look of the¬†VELUX Blinds and there are so many different colours and designs to choose from. Although knowing me, I’ll probably just stick with white and maybe get some slightly more exciting ¬†curtains to dress the window too.¬†Once the room is complete I’ll do a separate post with some before and after shots!

    Thanks so much for reading
