    Bella’s Third Birthday

The last few days have been a complete whirlwind as we have been super busy celebrating Bella’s Third birthday! We kicked off the celebrations with her party which we held on the 5th, a few days before her actual birthday. With it being Guy Fawkes night we decided to have another fireworks party, especially as it was such a success last year.

The birthday girl had requested a pink sprinkles cake as she is obsessed with all things sprinkles so I used this as my inspiration for this years party theme. I chose the most gorgeous plates, napkins, straws and party boxes from Party Pieces which fit the sprinkles theme perfectly. I also got some amazing confetti filled balloons that received so many compliments at the party! I really enjoy hosting parties and one of my favourite bits is choosing all the decor and seeing it all come together on the day.

Once everyone had arrived, we served slow cooked pulled pork baps, hot dogs and hot potato wedges outside on the deck before doing sparklers and letting off some fantastic fireworks once it had got really dark. We also built a huge bonfire to help keep everyone toasty! I was so pleased with the fireworks we chose this year, they really lit up the whole garden and everyone absolutely loved them. Bella found them hilarious and didn’t stop giggling the whole time they were going off! We finished the evening off with birthday cake and Bella opened a few of her presents. She had such a lovely time surrounded by all her favourite people and came up to me a couple of times to thank me and tell me how much she was loving her party! It definitely made all the effort SO worth it.

Josh and I both booked Bella’s actual birthday off work and we have the loveliest day together. The morning was spent chilling at home in our PJ’s playing with all her new presents, watching Disney films and eating chocolate pancakes. We then went for a family swim in the afternoon before having a little birthday tea at home.

It’s been a chaotic few days but plenty of fun too. Our girl is so loved by everyone and I feel extremely lucky to be her Mama. I’ll end this post with a few of my favourite photos from Bella’s third birthday celebrations!

The Ordinary Moments ’16 #2 | Nine Birthdays Together

On Tuesday it was my husbands 22nd birthday. It’s the 9th birthday of his we have spent together. I have written him 9 birthdays cards. Bought him 9 years worth of birthday gifts and watched him blow out his birthday candles 9 times over. Almost a decade of birthdays, a wedding, a dog, a daughter, two house moves, four cars, eight holidays later and I still love him fiercely. Soppy, but true.

Having a January birthday inevitably means that we never really do anything too fancy as the madness of Christmas has normally only just come to an end. This year we decided to both take the day off work and spend the day together just the two us and have a ‘date day out’ for the first time probably since we became parents. We’ve had plenty of ‘date nights’ but we thought it would be a nice change to do something in the daytime instead.

After breakfast in bed and present opening we dropped Bella off to my Mum and off we went. We had originally planned to go and see a film at the cinema which is something we haven’t done together in years! Josh does occasionally go with his brother to watch the typical guy films (snore) but I can’t even remember the last time I went. Unfortunately Bella dropped my iPhone in the morning and it needed some urgent attention from the guys at Apple. So we decided we’d go to Bluewater instead for some lunch, some sales shopping and a very expensive trip to the Apple store.

Despite our day not going as planned it was still so lovely to spend some quality alone time together and just be a couple rather than being parents. It meant we were able to enjoy an adult conversation over a lovely lunch in Bills without being interrupted by a hangry toddler and then a leisurely wander around all the shops. Of course, we both absolutely adore our family days out with Bella too, and we both missed her and said how strange it felt to be child free, but I do think it’s important to take time out occasionally just as a couple. Sometimes our life can get be crazy busy that we don’t get out for a date night/ day as often as we’d like to, but when we do, we appreciate that alone time so much more. We didn’t do anything particularly special today but it was special all the same because it’s not something we get to do very often anymore.

Happy Birthday Mr Lee! I’m so grateful to have you by my side. Here’s to the next 9 birthdays together and many many more after that. xoxoxo

‘Live Your Life & Forget Your Age’

It was my birthday yesterday and I’d been thinking of blog post ideas over the past few days and I straight away came to the decision that I wouldn’t share my actual age. Why? Well, I’m not sure exactly, I think it’s because I sometimes feel I won’t be taken seriously and maybe I’d be labelled a ‘young mum’ and although it doesn’t bother me personally as I suppose technically that’s what I am and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that but I just can’t be bothered to explain myself again. I know I shouldn’t have to justify myself to anyone but whenever the topic of my age comes up I just can’t help myself.

But I decided that it was stupid to hide my age when actually it’s nothing to be ashamed of, If anything I’m actually very proud. So yes, I’m only 22, I’m happily married to my childhood sweetheart and have been for 2.5 years and together we have a two year old daughter. We both work hard and we lead a lovely lifestyle. It’s not always plain sailing but who’s life is?! I definitely don’t think my age has anything to do with that though.

One of my favourite quotes is ‘Life your life and forget your age’  because after all it really is just a number.

Here is Twenty Two things I love in celebration of my 22nd birthday!

    1. Being a Mama & a Wife. Best.Jobs.Ever.
    2. Black skinny jeans & ankle boots
    3. Fresh flowers
    4. Scented Candles
    5. Twinkly white fairy lights
    6. Bouncy blow dries! They instantly make me feel glam
    7. Open fires
    8. Hot chocolates – especially the festive ones with all the extra calories 😉
    9. Freshly painted nails
    10. Clean bedding
    11. Long hot showers
    12. Country walks with my favourites
    13. Pub lunches
    14. Girls nights
    15. New York City – I’m so desperate to go back
    16. Cocktails
    17. Mustard, as in the colour not the food (yukkk)
    18. Reading – I’d choose a good book over TV any day
    19. Cake.. Black Forest cake in particular – chocolate, cherry & cream is just the perfect combination
    20. Make up – I don’t leave the house without it & I love trying new products/looks out
    21. Entertaining & hosting parties – it’s always stressful but I really do love it 😉
    22. The Autumn & Winter months – mostly because I just love bonfire nights & Christmas time

    Thanks for reading,

    Dear Bella,

On Sunday you turned two years old. TWO WHOLE YEARS OLD. I just can’t believe how quickly these last two years have gone. It only seems like yesterday we were bringing you home all wrapped up in the same pink blanket that now lays on the end of your toddler bed. It was a cold November evening and we were SO very  excited albeit slightly nervous to start our new life as a family of three. Even though these last two years have flown by much quicker than I’d like to admit, I also can’t imagine our lives without you.

When you turned One you were still such a baby to me. You weren’t quite walking yet, you only said a few words and you were more than happy for Mama to help you when you needed it. Your wispy baby hair is now long gone and has grown into the most beautiful thick curls which always recieves such lovely compliments. Since your first birthday you have grown from a baby to a fully fledged toddler and my heart could burst with pride for the wonderful little girl you are becoming. This past year has been full of ‘firsts’ and I feel so blessed to be your Mama. To be able to watch you take those first unaided steps, to listen to your little voice mispronounce all these new words you have learnt and to hold your hand for every step of the way (when you let me that is, Miss independent!). You are such a clever little thing and you definitely keep us on our toes.

You are an extremely strong willed and feisty little girl and as much as it drives me crazy sometimes, it’s one of the things I really love about you. You are so determined to be as independent as possible which means you will rarely accept help anymore and ‘No Waaaaaaay’ is your new favourite phrase. You make us laugh every single day with your quirky little ways, the way you can’t help but dance when you hear music and the way you call your Daddy ‘Jooooossshhh’ sometimes to get his full attention.

Cuddles aren’t really your thing, unless you are under the weather or especially tired. But you do love to read and I relish those moments when you clamber onto my lap for a story and a snuggle. Occasionally you’ll surprise me and insist I sit with you so you can hold my hand or rest your head on me while you suck your thumb after a busy day at Nursery. It doesn’t happen often so I always stop whatever it is I am doing to join you because I know those moments won’t last forever.

I feel so much more emotional about you turning Two, Bella Boo. But if Two is anywhere near as much fun as One then I honestly can’t wait.

    Happy Birthday Beautiful Girl.

I love you more than I ever thought possible.

    Love Mummy xxxxx

    Autumn Vibes

Despite the fact we are flying out to Ibiza for our summer holiday in just over a week I have got some serious Autumn vibes going on right now and I am embracing it with open arms!

For as long as I can remember Autumn has always been my favourite season. It’s probably because my birthday is in November but there are sooo many other factors behind why I love this season most and why I look forward to it all year round eagerly waiting to see those first golden leaves on the ground. I must drive my family and friends nuts I’m sure!

I think the main reason is because there is no disappointment with Autumn compared to other seasons. British Summertime always lets us down, they promise this ‘heat wave‘ that might last a few days before the rain starts again and it just makes everyone miserable. My social media time lines recently have just been full of people moaning about what a let down the Summer months have been, yet again, I’m not sure why people are still surprised! The same thing happens in Winter, everyone is eagerly awaiting that foot of snow as predicted by Mr weather man and we normally end up with more of a dusting of icing sugar rather than the thick blankets of the white stuff that we all hoped for. With Autumn it tends to all unfold as we expect it to. The beautiful leaves fall of the trees, the weather gets cooler; the air just that bit crisper, people begin to wrap up more  and the boots come out, the evenings are shorter, the mention of Christmas becomes more acceptable, X Factor is back on the telly, people light their fires and pop the heating on… my list could go on and on. But my point is; those things are what we are all hoping for and that’s exactly what we get. Therefore there’s no disappointment. Everybody wins.

These are my top 10 reasons why I bloody love Autumn.

    1. Cosy evenings by the fire snuggled under a blanket. Pure bliss.
    2. Fashion. I have a weakness for chunky knits, tartan scarves and tan boots.
    3. Walking over crisp crunchy leaves. Seriously makes my heart happy.
    4. Hot chocolates. Who doesn’t love a hot chocolate after an Autumnal walk?!
    5. Comfort food. I can’t wait to dig my slow cooker out and start making more hearty stews and soups.
    6. Birthday celebrations. Bella and I both have November birthdays just under 3 weeks apart and I love it. I am already stupidly excited for Bella’s second birthday, plans are well underway and i’m sure i’ll be sharing my ideas on the blog nearer the time.
    7. Bonfire nights. I have sadly missed the one we normally go to the past two years as we were struck down with a cold last year and the year before I was just about ready to pop with Bella. Therefore I can’t bloody wait to take Bella this year!!
    8. Berry lips and nails. You just can’t rock a berry lip/manicure in July like you can in October. Fact.
    9. Candle lit bubble baths. Again it doesn’t always feel right during the Summer when it’s still light outside at 8.30pm! I always have more baths during the colder months to warm me up and unwind after a long day.
    10. Last but not least has to be the countdown to Christmas time of course! FYI – Just over 100 days to go, not that i’m already counting or anything. 😉

I’d love to know what your favourite things are about Autumn!
    Thanks so much for reading!
