    Summer Bedroom Refresh

Since¬†completing our spare bedroom makeover which you can see here, I have been fighting the urge to redo every single room in the house! Much to my poor husbands annoyance! Although it has come to my attention that our master bedroom really could do with a little refresh. Nothing too serious as all of our furniture is in still in perfect condition and we only recently bought a new bed which we both love so I wouldn’t want to change any of that. The room is currently painted cream which I would definitely prefer to be white but I’m not sure I can be bothered to change it just yet as it’s totally liveable as it is, I’m just being fussy ūüėČ

I think just by switching the bedding and curtains for some fresh ones and by adding some new accessories in it would change the whole feel of the room and give it a much needed refresh! The advantage with keeping the walls neutral is that you can easily chop and change the accessories to match the different seasons. I love doing this as I tend to get bored quite easily with home decor, so I like to have the freedom to be able to switch things up when I like!

I’ve been a huge lover of all things floral for years now and even though my obsession is much more subtle than it once was, I still can’t help but swoon over all the gorgeous summery floral bed sets in the shops at the moment! These are my current top bedding picks, I especially love how bright and fun number two is which is from Joules, it would be perfect for the summer months teamed with some co coordinating¬†bright curtains, maybe something like these ready made lined ones from The Yorkshire Linen Co.

Hopefully we’ll get round to giving our bedroom a little refresh before Summer is over and I’m sure I will then share what we come up with on the blog too!

    Our Spare Bedroom Makeover

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am to be finally sharing our spare bedroom makeover on my blog. I’ve been itching to get stuck into this project for months and it feels so good to say that it is finally done (well, almost.. there is still a picture rail to be fitted and we need to buy a desk chair but that’s it!!) We are super pleased with how this room has turned out.¬†It took a lot of long evenings spent painting to cover over the ghastly layers of bright paint (I’ve included a couple of awful before photos below!) but it was totally worth it as we now have a beautiful guest bedroom and office space that we are already loving using.

If you read my spare bedroom inspiration post a couple of months back then you’ll remember that I said we would be going for a grey and yellow colour scheme in this room… WELL… turns out that I loved those colours so much after buying some bits and pieces that I used them in our own bedroom instead! Oops. So it was back to the drawing board again! I knew that I wanted the room to have a really light and airy feel to it so I’d always had my heart set on painting the walls white, much to my husbands annoyance! Ha. I also really wanted to have simple white bedding too and bring in some pops of colour through some different accessories.

I then stumbled upon this gorgeous pastel striped throw* from Wayfair and just fell in love with it so I used that as my main colour scheme inspiration for the rest of the room along with some really subtle copper accents.

Furniture wise we actually already had the bed frame as we recently got a new one and Josh very cleverly built the smaller drawers himself using pieces from an old desk. The larger chest of drawers once belonged to Josh’s grandparents but we up cycled them by giving them a fresh lick of paint and changing the knobs. I was desperate to paint them in a pretty pastel hue but Josh really wasn’t keen on the idea sadly. The desk is the only new piece of furniture in the room and even that was a complete bargain! It looks a bit bare at the moment so I’m on the hunt for some matching desk accessories and we still need to get a chair which will then complete our little work space.

I’m so pleased with our new space and it definitely looks just as good as I imagined in my head, if not better! I can’t wait to host¬†our first guests in our new spare room at the end of the month. I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking and I have tried my hardest to link all the items used for anyone who might be¬†interested. I hope you love it as much as we do!
