    36 Weeks Pregnant {Baby Number Two}

Today I turn 36 weeks which I’m pretty sure means I am now officially nine months pregnant! Before I know it, my second pregnancy will all be over. And all being well, I’ll have a tiny (although probably not that tiny) baby boy in my arms. The excitement to meet our little bundle is definitely building. But so is the realisation that somehow he has to come out! And I’m beginning to doubt myself and my abilities. Must.stay.positive!

    HOW FAR ALONG?

    36 Weeks

    DUE DATE?

    14th June 2017

    GENDER?

    Boy!

    HOW’S BABY DOING?

At week 36 baby boy weighs around 5.3lb and is about the same as a honeydew melon! It’s safe to say I am feeling HUGE.  He is around 18.2 inches from crown to heel. He will apparently gain about 28g a day over the next few weeks!

I actually had my 34 week appointment on the day I turned 35 weeks. On the days leading up to it I was so worried about baby still being in the transverse position and had spent hours googling all the risks involved. I’d got myself a bit worked up about it all. Only to get there and be told that he had moved from the transverse position… to bloody BREECH. Wonderful.

It’s now a waiting game until my next midwife appointment in a few days to see if he has moved by himself or not. If he is still breech I will be referred to the hospital for a scan to confirm his position. Then Ill need to see a consultant to discuss trying to turn him and what my options are. I feel so sad that I may not get my home birth but I’m trying not to worry too much until we know more after my next appointment. In the mean time I have been spending every evening bouncing away on my ball in the hope of giving him a helping hand to turn around. Fingers crossed!

    WEIGHT CHANGE?

Feels like I have put on about 10 stone. Probably more like 3 but still, I feel HUGE.

    SYMPTOMS?

Breathlessness and acid re-flux/heartburn are kicking my arse at the moment. I’ve also noticed that if I have had a busy day (pretty much every day) that my feet are a little swollen by the end of the day too. I said to Josh a couple of days back that I feel like I’ve hit a wall and I suddenly just feel so exhausted and heavy now.

    MOVEMENT?

I don’t know if it’s because of the fact he’s breech or he’s just running out of room but babies movements have become extremely strong and very uncomfortable over the last couple of weeks! It feels like he’s trying to break free most of the time.

    STRETCHMARKS?

I’m sure there are going to be some new ones appear during these last few weeks as everything feels SO stretched. I have taken to slathering myself with body butter every day to try and keep any new ones to a minimum. Also still wearing my secret saviours band when I remember!

    SLEEP?

Sleep has been better lately. I’m normally up once in the night to take Bella down to the toilet and to pee myself but apart from that I’m sleeping fairly soundly.

    CRAVINGS?

The cereal craving is back. I actually ordered three different boxes on last weeks food shop. I only have the one bowl at breakfast but I genuinely wake up feeling excited for it! (Get.A.Life.Harriet.)  Also seem to have a bit of a thing for curry at the moment! Pretty sure we had it about 3 maybe even 4 times in the last fortnight. Oh and ice cream. The sunshine makes me want alllllll the ice cream.

    HOW I’M FEELING?

I’m feeling pretty anxious at the moment about baby being breech. I’m looking forward to having a bit of a better idea about what’s going to happen in a few days time.

    MISS ANYTHING?

Being able to get down on the floor to properly play with Bella. I’m just too big and uncomfortable now and I’m not convinced I’d even be able to get back up!

    FAVOURITE OUTFIT THIS FORTNIGHT?

Not necessarily an outfit as such but I picked up some slip on sandals from Primark recently and they are so comfy. I can see myself living in them from hear on out.

    BEST MOMENT THIS FORTNIGHT?

Our spa break was definitely the highlight! We had the loveliest couple of days enjoying each others company. We shopped, enjoyed wonderful food and relaxed in the spa. But mainly we just tried to enjoy being together as a couple for what will probably be the last time for a while.

    LOOKING FORWARD TO?

Making the switch to working from home instead of having to drag myself into the office three days a week! I’m not actually taking a proper maternity leave this time and instead will just be doing my usual tasks from home with baby in tow. I will be taking a month or so off while I settle into a routine but I’m planning on working right up until I pop. At least being at home means I can work from my office in my pjs with unlimited snacks and maybe even the occasional nap too 😉

    34 Weeks Pregnant {Baby Number Two}

For some reason 34 weeks pregnant seems like a real milestone to me. Six weeks until my due date really doesn’t seem very long at all! To think I could potentially only write two more of these fortnightly updates blows my mind a little bit to be completely honest. Part of me feels more than ready to meet our baby now but there’s also a small part of me that feels a bit panicky about how quickly its coming around!

    HOW FAR ALONG?

    34+1 Weeks Pregnant

    DUE DATE?

    14th June 2017

    GENDER?

    Boy!

    HOW’S BABY DOING?

At week 34 baby boy weighs around 4.7lb and is about the same as a cantaloupe melon! And oh boy don’t I know it. He is around 17.7 inches from crown to heel. Baby boy is continuing to fill out. His layers of fat will help him to regulate his temperature once he is born.

I had a routine midwife appointment last week and baby is measuring spot on and all was well. Although she informed me that baby is still laying in the transverse position and is yet to move to head down. He still has a couple of weeks to move as apparently they don’t begin to worry until 36 weeks. I will be seeing my midwife again next week and she’ll be doing a full blood count again. Mainly to check on my iron levels and to see if they have increased at all since being on the iron tablets. They don’t like them to drop below 100 if you’re planning a home birth so fingers crossed they are up a bit!

    WEIGHT CHANGE?

I don’t even want to know… Ignorance is bliss after all 😉

    SYMPTOMS?

Thankfully both the leg cramps and restless legs have eased off again. My main symptom at the moment seems to be dizziness. It’s worst when I lay down, bend over or get up too quickly. It’s the most horrible feeling and I find it a bit scary. I’m also just generally feeling very uncomfortable now. My bump feels so heavy and low which makes the simplest of tasks very awkward!

    MOVEMENT?

Baby boy is still super active. I’m definitely going to miss feeling him move once he’s earth side!

    STRETCHMARKS?

Still no new ones that I can see…*Touches ALL the wood*

    SLEEP?

Sleep has been awful lately. I’m just really uncomfortable now and waking frequently to pee means I’m not getting much sleep at all.

    CRAVINGS?

I’ve had a thing for diet lemonade recently. Which is very unlike me as I don’t normally drink fizzy drinks! Also been loving ice cream too.

    HOW I’M FEELING?

    Tired. OH SO TIRED.

    MISS ANYTHING?

Sleep. My pre pregnancy wardrobe. Oh and just being able to do things without feeling like I’ve just run a marathon 😉

    FAVOURITE OUTFIT THIS FORTNIGHT?

I pretty much just alternate the same few outfits now and I am so looking forward to being able to wear normal clothes again soon.

    BEST MOMENT THIS FORTNIGHT?

I have washed, dried and ironed ALL of babies clothes up to 3 months which has made me feel so excited about meeting our baby boy. I’ve also packed his change bag ready for post birth. I’m still hoping for a home birth so technically didn’t need to pack it into a bag but I just thought it would be easier to keep it all in one place. We also collected the bedside crib at the weekend which was the last big thing to tick off the list!

    LOOKING FORWARD TO?

Josh and I are off to Reading at the weekend for our last little getaway before babies arrival. We’re planning to do some shopping and go for lunch on the first day and then just relax in the spa on the second. I’m really looking forward to spending some quality time together. I am also having my pre baby hair done the following weekend and we have our maternity shoot. Both of which I am super excited about! No doubt these next couple of weeks will fly by as we have lots to keep us busy.

    24 Weeks Pregnant {Baby Number Two}

Of course I had every intention to keep up to date with sharing fortnightly updates but it seems that I am failing miserably! Life is just super busy lately which has meant that my poor blog has become a little neglected over the past few weeks sadly. I have so many half written posts, ideas and recipes that I really want to share but I suppose I am just struggling to find a balance at the moment. So this pregnancy update will cover how I have been getting on over the last month since my last one!

    HOW FAR ALONG?

    23 weeks + 5 days

    DUE DATE?

    14th June 2017

    GENDER?

    Boy!!

    HOW’S BABY DOING?

At week 23, baby is the size of a large mango.  Measuring about 28.9cm in length and he weighs around 1.1lb! Baby is now becoming more sensitive to sounds and will start to hear more distant sounds now such as a dog barking. His tiny heart is beating strong, and as blood is pumped around his body, his thin skin appears red.

We had our anomaly scan when I was 20+2 and baby is growing perfectly! All the measurements were as exactly as they should be. The sonographer even commented that baby was very symmetrical which apparently is quite rare but a good thing. Bella came with us and loved seeing her baby brother wiggle about on the screen. I can’t believe that all being well the next time will we see our baby boy is when he arrives in June.

    WEIGHT CHANGE?
I’m now up almost a stone since falling pregnant. I’m struggling a bit with this to be honest, after trying so hard to lose weight after having Bella, I’m finding it hard to swallow seeing the scales go up and up. I know that it is for all the right reasons but mentally I’m finding it hard. I normally eat relatively healthy but have found myself reaching for the biscuits ALOT lately so am considering re joining Slimming World to help keep me on track a bit better.

    SYMPTOMS?

The pelvic pain is still there but not quite so bad thankfully. I’ve been making a real effort not to lift things that are too heavy (Bella included) and to keep my knees together when getting out of bed and in and out of the car. I’ve also been trying to rest a little more and just not overdo it in general and I think this all seems to be helping!

My other main symptom is that I have become ridiculously clumsy over the last few weeks. I have managed to fall over quite badly on two separate occasions now. Once when leaving work and a week later I also slipped in our bedroom and went flying into our tile fireplace. Luckily both times I fell on my side rather than my bump and apart from a few bruises I seem to have got off lightly.

    MOVEMENT?

At my scan the sonographer confirmed that I have an anterior placenta this time which means it is laying at the front. This apparently can cushion babies movements a little which probably explains why I hadn’t been feeling much before 20 weeks. Although since reaching the half way mark, I have definitely been feeling baby move a lot more! Josh has managed to feel kicks from the outside too which has been lovely.

    STRETCHMARKS?

All of the stretch marks I got first time around are beginning to look a lot more stretched again sadly. I’m not sure if I have any new ones as I have so many from last time it’s kind of hard to tell!  I am super excited to be working with Secret Saviours as a brand ambassador throughout my pregnancy. I will be sharing more on the blog soon but I recently received my kit so I am hoping that will help keep any new stretch marks at bay!

    SLEEP?

I’m getting to the point where it feels like turning over in bed is a bit of a military operation. One that I seem to do a million times a night. I’m also still having strange dreams most nights too. Most days I wake up feeling like I’ve hardly slept!

    CRAVINGS?

Biscuits & sausage rolls. SO unhealthy and not things I’m particularly fussed about normally! I’ve obviously been trying to keep these things to a minimum but I have indulged a few times over the last few weeks which probably explains why the scales are creeping up a little quicker now! Oops.

    HOW I’M FEELING?

Mostly just tired and impatient! I’m having to stop myself from just ordering everything we still need for baby boy in one go. Obviously we don’t NEED it all just yet and the sensible thing to do would be to spread the cost over the next few months but I’m getting impatient and just want everything done right.now. (yesterday).

    MISS ANYTHING?

My pre pregnancy wardrobe! I’m getting sick of maternity jeans already and everything else is fast becoming too small.

    FAVOURITE RECENT OUTFIT?

I picked up a lovely grey jumper from Asda of all places recently which is perfect for my growing bump! I’ve been teaming it with jeans and heeled boots or leggings and converse for a more casual look.

    BEST MOMENT THIS MONTH?

It was lovely to see baby again at our 20 week scan. We’ve also had the Moses basket, pushchair and cot arrive in the last couple of weeks which has been super exciting. The children’s shared bedroom is all painted now too and we’ve built both of their beds. It just needs some accessories added to it!

    LOOKING FORWARD TO?

Getting all the finishing touches done in the children’s new room. Dressing the room is definitely my favourite bit! I have ordered a few bespoke pieces from a couple of my favourite Insta shops and I can’t wait for them to arrive. I’m also looking forward to Spring properly arriving. I’m so over the miserable weather now and I’m desperate to be able to spend more time outside.

    20 Weeks Pregnant {Baby Number Two}

20 weeks pregnant already!? Time is just flying by and I can’t believe I am already at the half way point! The last couple of weeks have been pretty hectic with getting the bedrooms organised ready to switch about. I’m also really pleased as I’ve made a good start on buying bits for our baby boy. I have picked up so many bargains in the January sales and I have started to make a list of all of the bigger items we’ll be needing to buy too. I never did get round to posting my 18 week update so this update will cover how I’ve been getting on since my last post at 16 weeks!

    HOW FAR ALONG?
    20 Weeks

    DUE DATE?
    14th June 2017

    GENDER?
    Boy!!

    HOW’S BABY DOING?
At week 20, baby is the size of a banana. Measuring about 25.6cm in length (this is now measured from head to toe rather than crown to runp!) and he weighs up to 10.6oz. Babies ears are now in their final position and stand out from his head. Apparently he also has little eyebrows starting to appear too! A whitish coat of a slick, fatty substance called vernix caseosa begins to cover your baby. It acts as a moisturiser and lubricant, helping to protect her delicate skin from drying out in the amniotic fluid.

Since my last update I have had my 16 week midwife appointment which wasn’t actually until just before I turned 18 weeks. Everything went perfectly which is always reassuring. She was more than happy with my blood test results, my urine sample and my blood pressure which is always such a relief too. I have my 20 week scan in a couple of days too which I’m looking forward too.

    WEIGHT CHANGE?
I lost the few lbs I gained over the festive period pretty quickly thankfully. Which means I am now up around 7lbs from my pre pregnancy weight which I am actually very pleased with. I piled on so much weight in my first pregnancy and I’m trying so hard to avoid this happening again.

    SYMPTOMS?
Pain. SO MUCH PAIN. I’m really suffering with awful pain in my pelvic and pubic bone area. It started a couple of weeks ago now and is showing no signs of easing up sadly. I’m thinking I may have to book in for some physio soon as I think it may be the start of PPGP (pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain). I am also still feeling super tired most of the time which is slightly annoying as I thought the second trimester was when you got all your energy back! Still waiting for that pregnancy glow over here!!

    MOVEMENT?
I am definitely feeling some movement now and I am super excited for those little kicks to get stronger. I was actually beginning to worry a little as I was sure I felt Bella move earlier than this. Baby boy only seems to move when I get into bed in the evenings, or at least that is the time I notice it the most! Feeling baby move is definitely one of my favourite parts of pregnancy and I’ve been really enjoying laying in bed each evening feeling him squirm about.

    STRETCHMARKS?
I think I have a few new ones on my boobs sadly or they could just be old ones that are more noticeable now as my poor boobs seem to just keep bloody growing!! I am trying really hard to be more consistent with applying my bio oil twice a day as I keep forgetting.

    SLEEP?
Sleep still isn’t great, I’ve been popping a small pillow under my bump at night to try and support it better but I still feel like I just toss and turn all night long. I have also been having the strangest dreams every night for the last couple of weeks which I suspect is probably hormone related!

    CRAVINGS?
I have been loving satsumas recently which I suppose isn’t a bad craving to have! Apart from that I seem to have a constant hankering for Japanese food and chicken katsu curry! I know where we are going for our date night next month 😉

    HOW I’M FEELING?
Apart from the pain, I’m feeling okay! I’ve felt a little overwhelmed at times lately. I am trying to get myself a bit more organised which is definitely helping me to stop stressing.

    MISS ANYTHING?
Walking without feeling like my pelvis might snap. Ouch.

    FAVOURITE RECENT OUTFIT?
Josh bought me a gorgeous new grey coat for Christmas which I’ve been loving wearing. The buttons on it do just about do up at the moment! Although I tend to wear it open anyway so it should last me through these cold months which means I won’t need to buy a Maternity coat.  I also found my maternity leggings from last time which are super comfy, but they sadly have a hole in so I’ll need some new ones!

    BEST MOMENT THIS FORTNIGHT MONTH?
There has been a fair few! Obviously hearing babies heartbeat at my midwife appointment was my favourite. It’s such a magical sound and it always makes me feel a little emotional too. But Josh and I also enjoyed a lovely spa break for his birthday a couple of weeks back which was just blissful. We have also made a start on shuffling our bedrooms around at home to make space for our baby boy’s arrival. Josh and I have moved into what was our guest bedroom, Bella and the baby will then be sharing our old bedroom and the room that Bella is in now will become a shared office for Josh and I!

We have also finally settled on a name for baby boy!!

    LOOKING FORWARD TO?
Making a proper start on the children’s shared bedroom over the next couple of weeks and of course seeing baby again at our 20 week anomaly scan at the end of the week!

    16 Weeks Pregnant {Baby Number Two}

The festive period really threw me off track with all things blog related and I am only just getting back into the swing of things which has meant that despite starting this update on time with all the best intentions to have it up between Christmas and New Year, by the time it finally goes live, I will actually be nearer to 18 weeks pregnant. Oops!

I turned 16 weeks on the 28th December and we luckily managed to book our private gender scan for the very same day. It’s safe to say that for this reason, week 16 is one I have definitely been looking forward to!

    HOW FAR ALONG?
    16 weeks & 5 days

    DUE DATE?
    14th June 2017

    GENDER?
Boy!! We find out a few days back and I think I’m finally starting to get my head around it. I’m so excited to have one of each.

    HOW’S BABY DOING?
At week 16, baby is the size of an avocado. Measuring about 11.6cm in length and weighing around 3.5 ounces. Over the next three weeks baby will go through a big growth spurt, more than doubling his weight! Babies grasp may now have developed enough for him to be able to hold his little hands together too which is just crazy!

    WEIGHT CHANGE?
As expected, when I weighed myself after Christmas I was up a few extra lbs but I reckon this will probably come off again once I’m back on track with my healthy eating.

    SYMPTOMS?
I think I can finally say that I am over the sickness! Hallelujah! The festive period seemed to completely take it out of me though and I have been feeling so tired and run down. Hopefully once we are settled back into our usual routine I might perk up a bit again. Over the last couple of weeks my skin has been pretty bad, probably a combination of hormones and lack of healthy foods so again I’m hoping that will settle down soon now I’m eating cleaner again.

    MOVEMENT?
I’m not 100% but I think I may have felt those first little flutters in the last couple of days. I think by my next update I will have definitely felt baby move properly which I am so excited about.

    STRETCHMARKS?
I have so many stretchmarks from my first pregnancy and I really don’t want to add anymore so I have been smothering myself in bio oil every day (well, when I remember that is!).

    SLEEP?
Since my last update sleep has definitely taken a turn for the worse sadly. I feel like I just toss and turn all night long which means when I get up I still feel exhausted. I’ve also been super thirsty at night recently which has resulted in me having to get up to pee a couple of times a night which is super annoying.

    CRAVINGS?
PATE. One of the only things I actually avoid in pregnancy typically. I must admit I did cave and enjoyed a couple of pate crackers over Christmas (woops). I’ve also made Josh promise to make me pate on toast as my first meal post baby!

    HOW I’M FEELING?
Mentally I’m feeling great. I’m very excited to properly start baby preparations now we know what we are having and overall I’m in a really good place right now. But physically, I am bloody exhausted.

    MISS ANYTHING?
I did sort of miss having an alcoholic drink or too over the festive period, especially on our Christmas works do!

    FAVOURITE RECENT OUTFIT?
I’m all about dresses & maternity tights lately. I find tights so much more comfortable than maternity jeans and have been teaming them with stretchy dresses that can be dressed up or down. I’m also loving my new white leather converse I got for Christmas and can definitely seen them becoming a maternity wardrobe staple!

    BEST MOMENT THIS FORTNIGHT?
Finding out we are having a baby boy!!

    LOOKING FORWARD TO?
Getting back to a bit of normality after the Christmas break. It feels so good to have my house back to normal now as the trees and the decorations were beginning to get on my nerves a little! We also have a spa break booked for the end of next week to celebrate Josh’s birthday which we are both really looking forward to.

    14 Weeks Pregnant {Baby Number Two}

There is a big part of me that still can’t believe that I’m lucky enough to be pregnant again and the other part can’t get over just how fast this pregnancy seems to be going already. Which I think is one of the main reasons why I want to do these pregnancy updates on the blog, as I know that the coming weeks are going to fly by and if I don’t write it down, I fear I’ll forget all those little details. I’m already into my second trimester which is just crazy as it only feels like last week that I saw those two pink lines. So here’s how I’m getting along in my fourteenth week of pregnancy.

    HOW FAR ALONG?
    14 Weeks & 4 days

    DUE DATE?
    14th June 2017

    GENDER?
It’s still too early to know at the moment, but we do have a private gender scan in a couple of weeks time which I am really looking forward to. I’m currently swaying more towards a boy despite everyone I know telling me how they think I’m having another girl!

    HOW’S BABY DOING?
According to my app, baby is the size of a peach. Measuring about 8.7cm in length and weighing around 1.52 ounces. Baby is now able to open and close its fists as well as make sucking movements with the muscles in the mouth. All the organs of babies digestive system are now developing into their final shapes too.

    WEIGHT CHANGE?
My weight has been a bit all over the place so far to be honest. I gained a few lbs in the first few weeks purely from just eating whatever I fancied as I was off most food, I have since lost it all but regained some again. So my current pregnancy gain is +2lbs although I imagine with Christmas looming that may have changed quite a bit by my next update!

    SYMPTOMS?
My sickness seems to be coming to an end thank goodness, I do still gag a bit first thing in the morning but I haven’t been sick in almost a week now I spoke too soon and have been sick three times since writing this a few days back. Although I’m no longer feeling super nauseous 24/7 anymore. I’ve felt particularly tired this week but I think that’s probably down to it being such a busy time of year more than anything. I have also been experiencing a bit of lower back ache, which I have found is much worse after a day at work when I have been sat at my desk all day.

    SLEEP?
I’ve been sleeping fine this week thankfully, although I’ve been having some very strange dreams! I got my V pillow out a few days ago to try and support my bump a bit better in the hope it may help the back pain too.

    CRAVINGS?
I can’t get enough of crumpets lately! They aren’t something I normally eat as I try to keep white bread products to a minimum but I have been loving them this week with a good scraping of butter. Not so good for my waist line though 😉

    HOW I’M FEELING?
Apart from feeling a bit tired and run down, I’m feeling really well at the moment.

    MISS ANYTHING?
Nothing in particular. Although with Christmas coming up I keep thinking about pate on crackers, so no doubt I will be missing that in a couple of weeks!

    FAVOURITE RECENT OUTFIT?
I am obsessed with my Next maternity jeans right now. I said goodbye to my normal jeans a couple of weeks back as I didn’t want to stretch them and because maternity jeans are just really bloody comfy. I’ve bought three different pairs and these Next ones are by far my favourites. I’ve been wearing them with chunky knit jumpers and heeled ankle boots as it’s been pretty chilly lately.

    BEST MOMENT THIS FORTNIGHT?
    Booking our gender scan in.

    LOOKING FORWARD TO?
We have our works Christmas do this weekend so I’m looking forward to a little weekend away before the festive madness really hits! I also can’t wait for Josh and I to break up from work for Christmas, only one more week to go!
