It has now been a year since I chopped over 8 inches of my long locks off and donated them to The Little Princess Trust and raised just over £100 for an amazing charity. The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
At the time I remember being completely petrified as I had been growing my hair for years and it was definitely sort of like my comfort blanket. I am so glad I took the plunge as not only was it a fantastic feeling to be able to give something to someone who needed it much more than I did but I have also absolutely loved having shorter hair over the past year and strangely it’s made me feel much more confident. Over the last year I have grown it a couple of inches so it’s more of a long bob now but I still love it and haven’t regretted it once.
It’s definitely so much easier to manage now, I am blessed with super thick hair so I was beginning to find it a complete nightmare to wash and style when it was really long so I ended up throwing it up in a mum bun topknot most of the time. When I went for the big chop I also changed my colour to Ombre and I still absolutely adore it a year later. Probably because it’s such low maintenance 😉
If you are ever considering chopping more than 7 inches off your hair then please do consider donating it to The Little Princess Trust, it could help transform a child’s life.

I love your new look and really need to do this, at 48 I’m mush too old now for my long hair, if I thought it would look like yours I’d take the chop tomorrow! Lovely idea to donate too. #MarvMondays

Ah thank you so much. My advice would be to scour the internet for some photos of styles you like, then take them to a good hairdresser for a chat before you take the plunge. You’ll feel much more at ease. #MarvMondays xo

What an amazing and totally selfless thing to do! The silver lining seems to be that the bob, particularly at the length and colour you have it now totally suits you – I absolutely love it 🙂 Great charity to raise awareness for so thank you for linking it up to #MarvMondays. Emily

Thank you lovely. It was such a good feeling and I think because it was for such a good cause it has stopped me regretting cutting my long hair off like I thought I might. I much prefer it shorter too xo
