The festive period really threw me off track with all things blog related and I am only just getting back into the swing of things which has meant that despite starting this update on time with all the best intentions to have it up between Christmas and New Year, by the time it finally goes live, I will actually be nearer to 18 weeks pregnant. Oops!
I turned 16 weeks on the 28th December and we luckily managed to book our private gender scan for the very same day. It’s safe to say that for this reason, week 16 is one I have definitely been looking forward to!
HOW FAR ALONG?
16 weeks & 5 days

Boy!! We find out a few days back and I think I’m finally starting to get my head around it. I’m so excited to have one of each.
HOW’S BABY DOING?
At week 16, baby is the size of an avocado. Measuring about 11.6cm in length and weighing around 3.5 ounces. Over the next three weeks baby will go through a big growth spurt, more than doubling his weight! Babies grasp may now have developed enough for him to be able to hold his little hands together too which is just crazy!
As expected, when I weighed myself after Christmas I was up a few extra lbs but I reckon this will probably come off again once I’m back on track with my healthy eating.
I think I can finally say that I am over the sickness! Hallelujah! The festive period seemed to completely take it out of me though and I have been feeling so tired and run down. Hopefully once we are settled back into our usual routine I might perk up a bit again. Over the last couple of weeks my skin has been pretty bad, probably a combination of hormones and lack of healthy foods so again I’m hoping that will settle down soon now I’m eating cleaner again.
I’m not 100% but I think I may have felt those first little flutters in the last couple of days. I think by my next update I will have definitely felt baby move properly which I am so excited about.
I have so many stretchmarks from my first pregnancy and I really don’t want to add anymore so I have been smothering myself in bio oil every day (well, when I remember that is!).
Since my last update sleep has definitely taken a turn for the worse sadly. I feel like I just toss and turn all night long which means when I get up I still feel exhausted. I’ve also been super thirsty at night recently which has resulted in me having to get up to pee a couple of times a night which is super annoying.
PATE. One of the only things I actually avoid in pregnancy typically. I must admit I did cave and enjoyed a couple of pate crackers over Christmas (woops). I’ve also made Josh promise to make me pate on toast as my first meal post baby!
HOW I’M FEELING?
Mentally I’m feeling great. I’m very excited to properly start baby preparations now we know what we are having and overall I’m in a really good place right now. But physically, I am bloody exhausted.
I did sort of miss having an alcoholic drink or too over the festive period, especially on our Christmas works do!
FAVOURITE RECENT OUTFIT?
I’m all about dresses & maternity tights lately. I find tights so much more comfortable than maternity jeans and have been teaming them with stretchy dresses that can be dressed up or down. I’m also loving my new white leather converse I got for Christmas and can definitely seen them becoming a maternity wardrobe staple!
BEST MOMENT THIS FORTNIGHT?
Finding out we are having a baby boy!!
LOOKING FORWARD TO?
Getting back to a bit of normality after the Christmas break. It feels so good to have my house back to normal now as the trees and the decorations were beginning to get on my nerves a little! We also have a spa break booked for the end of next week to celebrate Josh’s birthday which we are both really looking forward to.
