The Ordinary Moments ’16 #9 | Just The Two Of Us

Despite the fact I have Wednesdays and Fridays off from my office job to spend with Bella, because I also care for my Dad on those days it doesn’t often leave us with much time just the two of us. Most weeks we’ll also have some other plans in the diary too like seeing my sister and niece or catching up with friends. Which as lovely as that is, I felt we needed some alone time. So this week I made sure to keep Wednesday afternoon clear so we could spend some quality time just us.

I had planned to take Bella out for cake and to see the animals at our favourite garden centre but typically she fell asleep in the car so I headed home instead to let her sleep for a little while. We then played at home for a bit as she managed to find the princess dress we had bought her as an Easter treat (at the bottom of the stairs wasn’t Daddy’s best hiding place!!!) and she was so excited to put it on I didn’t have the heart to say no. She looked so sweet in it, despite the fact that the hoop in the skirt kept tripping her over πŸ˜‰

After the little madam was finished dancing and twirling around the living room to Disney songs on YouTube I asked her what she’d like to do for the rest of the afternoon and she chose to go to the swings so that is exactly what we did. Despite the bright sunshine and beautiful blue skies it was still bitterly cold but that didn’t stop us having a lovely time. I loved watching Bella excitedly run between the different pieces of equipment at the park and hearing her infectious giggle as I pushed her on the swings. She was having such a great time she really didn’t want to leave, despite her lips starting to turn blue!!

We both had such fun together and I’m going to make a conscious effort to set aside a whole morning or afternoon once a week to do something just the two of us. An activity that Bella will really enjoy and I can give her my undivided attention. It’s these Ordinary Moments that I cherish the most and sometimes wish we had more time for, but it makes me appreciate them so much more because it isn’t something we get to do every day. It won’t always be just the two of us, hopefully at some point we’ll be able to give Bella a sibling, so I want to ensure we make the most of our time together as a two and make some super special memories we can both treasure.

I rarely get quality one on one time with my littlest lady and so treasure the time we do have & you can’t beat a trip to the swings although I’m fortunate that here I have to remember sun team as opposed to a woolly hat! Bells looks adorable in her dress & I wouldn’t have had the heart to take it off her either.

I totally agree, we sometimes go at the weekends with Daddy too but rarely go just the two of us. Oh you lucky thing! Hopefully the british weather will warm up soon. Ah thank you, she did look so adorable and she was just so excited! xo

Definitely! She’s such an independent little girl and loves making her own decisions and it felt so good not having to say ‘no’ or ‘another day maybe’ and just saying ‘okay, let’s go!’ xo

Aw she looks so sweet in her little dress, haha my husband has similar hiding spots for presents, I once found my birthday present just by opening his wardrobe- it was literally on display! Those one on one times are so important aren’t they? I bet Bella will treasure the time with just you. x

Doesn’t she just!? You can’t say no to that little face! Yes that’s what I’m thinking – making the most of it before a sibling comes along at some point! Thanks for your comment xo

Awh she looks so happy in her princess dress – it’s from Tangled right? I love her bobble hat as well, very stylish πŸ™‚ Sounds like you had a lovely day together. I find that I’m really busy during the week between baby clubs, visiting family, housework, blogging. Soemtimes it’s important to stop and carve out a peice of time just for the kids πŸ™‚

I do feel lucky that I get quality time with Lamb each week. Even when I was working part time I had 2 days a week to do whatever he wanted. It’s difficult balancing work/motherhood/adult time x

Finding the balance is definitely hard. We make sure that weekends are full of family fun when we both off though but it’s nice to have some time just the two of us as well xo

She looks so cute in her princess dress bless her! I love your plan to put some time aside to spend just the two of you. Nobody ever wishes they had spent less time with their children when they were small do they, you’ve got to grab these moments while you can!

I love her yellow wooly hat, she looks so cute in it. I’m glad you had a nice time together, it is sometimes so hard to take some time out together. I have 3 kids and I am always pulled between them all.

Looks like you had a lovely time together. It’s hard to always make time to do things together, I really need to make more of an effort to do this. It can be hard to find the balance xx

Oh it is SO hard to find the balance. I’m sure my life resembles some sort of crazy juggling act most days. It was so nice to take some time out just the two of us xo
